Tender Leaf Wooden Animal Turtle

The turtle is low and wide: a domed shell with a painted grid of plates, and four stubby legs underneath. Head and tail stick out at either end, with an eye on each side of the snout. It sits flat on the table, and in play it is reliably the slow one — everything else has crossed the room by the time it arrives.

Tender Leaf works with reclaimed rubberwood: hevea trees that stop yielding latex after around 25 years and used to be burned. For every tree it uses, the brand says it plants a new one. The colours come from non-toxic, water-based paint and stain.
