A heartbeat toy plays recorded sound from a module in its tummy. The Moonie models in this collection combine this with a light and cry sensor. The heartbeat is a sound feature: the toy does not measure a baby's heart rate or health.
In the womb, a baby hears sounds from the mother's body, including her heartbeat. A heartbeat toy aims to bring back something of that sound environment after birth. A regular beat and gentle background noise may therefore feel familiar. It imitates sounds, rather than recreating the entire experience of being in the womb.
Moonie describes its womb sound as a real recording from inside a mother's belly. This is a fixed recording in the module, not the individual heartbeat of the baby's own parent. Some babies find a steady background sound pleasant during a quiet moment or bedtime routine. Others respond less or prefer quiet. There is no guaranteed sleep effect.
Alongside its womb sound, the Moonie 2.0 Humming Bunny includes wind, a forest stream, rain and waves. There are also lullabies and a function for recording a message or song. These offer different types of sound: a voice recording sounds different from continuous background noise.
The cry sensor can reactivate the chosen sound when it detects crying. On this Bunny model, the timer can be set to 30, 60 or 90 minutes. Light and sound settings are controlled through the module. Check which functions other versions offer. Start at a low volume and observe your child's response; louder or longer playback is not automatically more comfortable.
The collection includes cotton and polyester versions. Fabric affects both feel and care. Access to the module can differ too. Before washing, follow the particular animal's label, not just general information about the brand.
