Grapat Mandala

Grapat Mandala: small shapes that form a pattern

The Grapat Mandala range consists of small wooden pieces that can be placed in repeated arrangements. A circle of eggs might grow from a centre, followed by a ring of trees. A pattern need not be finished: pieces can be moved, sorted or given a new meaning.

Shape, colour and wood

Pieces differ in outline, height and colour. Wood grain and slight shade variations may remain visible. A rounded piece sits differently from a cone or flower. Placing shapes together reveals similarities and differences without one correct arrangement.

Sets and combinations

• Eggs and mushrooms. The rainbow eggs and rainbow mushrooms each have their own shape. These sets contain multiple pieces for repeated arrangements.
• Nature shapes. Trees, flowers, raindrops, honeycombs, cones and fires can form patterns or elements of a landscape.

Arranging, counting and storing

A clear, level surface makes a pattern easy to see. Start with one shape and add another later if desired. Pieces can also be counted or sorted into bowls. Store dry, clean gently and follow age guidance because of the small parts.
