Tender Leaf Wooden Animal Hermit Crab

The hermit crab carries its house with it: a coiled shell with a painted spiral, with legs and two claws poking out at the front. The crab itself is reddish brown, the shell lighter with a line following the whorl. It nearly always starts a moving-house story — which shell it takes next, and who ends up with the old one.

Tender Leaf works with reclaimed rubberwood: hevea trees that stop yielding latex after around 25 years and used to be burned. For every tree it uses, the brand says it plants a new one. The colours come from non-toxic, water-based paint and stain.
