Senger Warmteknuffel hert
Heel erg blij met de knuffel, mijn zoontje is er gek op. Alleen echte warmte geeft hij niet af, de kersenpit is snel koud.
Order before 16:00 on working days and we ship the same day!
A soft toy you can warm in the oven and that then smells faintly of lavender. Or the same toy in the freezer, for a bump or a fever. Senger Naturwelt makes soft toys that actually do something, and that are at the same time so plain and timeless they stay around for years without dating. Everything is made by hand from organic cotton and filled with pure new wool. Order before 4 pm on a working day and your order ships the same day.
Senger has been making soft toys by hand in Germany since 1985. The filling is pure new wool rather than polyester, and you notice it: wool regulates moisture and temperature naturally, so the toy never feels clammy the way a synthetic filling sometimes does. The outside is 100% organic cotton.
Because they are made by hand, no two are exactly alike. That comes with the territory.
Inside the tummy sits a removable cushion filled with cherry or grape stones. To warm it:
Warm it in the oven: 3 to 5 minutes at 75 degrees. Not in the microwave: that heats stones unevenly, creating hot spots inside the cushion you cannot feel from the outside. We don't use one at our own nurseries either.
Always check the temperature yourself before handing it to your child. Stick to the times on the packaging; heating for too long will scorch the stones. Warming it releases a light lavender scent that has a calming effect.
It works the other way round too: put the cushion in the freezer and you have a cold pack for a bump or a knock. Because it sits inside a soft toy rather than a plastic bag, a child will keep it in place far more willingly.
The small ones are easier to handle and better for young children: light to hold and simple to take along. The large ones give more warmth and last longer with older children, who also lie against them. If the warmth is what you are after, large is usually the better choice; if you want a first soft toy or a new-baby gift, take a baby one.
At our own nurseries a warming soft toy is the practical answer to a whole run of small troubles: tummy ache, a grazed knee, or a child who will not warm up after playing outside. That it sits inside a soft toy makes the difference, a child who refuses a hot water bottle will happily hold on to an otter.
And the material feels different from a synthetic toy and lasts longer. These are the ones you pass on to a second child, which is exactly why we put them in the shop.
Looking wider than this one brand? Our heat pack soft toys category brings together everything about warming, cooling, washing and the age at which one of these can be used.
In the oven, 3 to 5 minutes at 75 degrees. Do not use a microwave: it heats the stones unevenly. Always check the temperature yourself afterwards before handing it over.
Yes. Put it in the freezer for a cooling effect on a bump or a knock.
Both occur; each product page states which filling that model has. In use they do the same thing.
No. Take the heat cushion out first, then hand wash the toy at around 30 degrees. A mark can also be spot-cleaned with lukewarm water. Let it dry thoroughly afterwards, a wool filling needs time for that.
Warming releases a light lavender scent from the filling, which has a calming effect. It fades over time.
The baby soft toys are for the very youngest, with you present. A toy with a heat cushion is always used under supervision, and the common guidance is to keep a baby's cot empty. Check the product page for the exact guidance and follow your child health clinic or doctor if in doubt.
Wool regulates moisture and temperature naturally, so the toy feels pleasant and never clammy. It is also a natural material that holds its shape for a long time.
