Some children's bikes are obviously toys. A Banwood is not: it looks like a scaled-down version of the bike you would want to ride yourself. Soft, muted colours, a classic steel frame and details that are right. It is the sort of bike that is allowed to stay standing in the hall. At Kideo.store you'll find Banwood's balance bike, tricycle, scooters and helmets. Order before 4 pm on a working day and your order ships the same day.
The question we get most, and the answer comes down mainly to age.
The trike is the first step: from 2 years, with pedals, and stable enough not to tip. The balance bike teaches something else, balancing without pedals. Watch the size here: the First Go's seat only starts at 44 cm, so this is a bike for a child who is already a bit bigger. Looking for something for a beginner of eighteen months? Then see our other balance bikes, which start at around 22 cm.
A scooter asks more again: standing on one leg, pushing off with the other, and keeping the handlebars straight at the same time. Banwood gives 3 years as the guideline. Many families do them in sequence: trike or balance bike first, then the scooter, then a pedal bike. Have a look at all our scooters too.
Both three-wheeled and both with the same Easy Ride steering system, so they ride the same. The difference is material and price: the Eco Scooter is made from 100% recycled plastic and costs considerably less, while the Banwood Scooter is the original model with the vintage look the brand is known for. Choose on what matters more to you. This is not about how they ride.
A helmet is not compulsory, but once a child rides outdoors and picks up speed on a pavement or a slope it is hardly excessive. The practical trick: pick a helmet your child likes the look of. A helmet that matches the bike goes on by itself, and that saves an argument every single time. The Helmet Eco comes in the same ten colours as the Eco Scooter.
We would rather sell something that lasts and that nobody is tired of after a year. Banwood is a good example: timeless in design, solidly built, and with a second-hand value that bears it out. What a child learns from it counts just as much: steering, braking, judging speed and getting off in time. That is good for motor skills, and it gives children the feeling that they can do something themselves.
Look at inside leg length rather than age: both feet need to rest flat on the ground. The First Go's seat adjusts from 44 to 55 cm, so expect a child of about three or older.
Banwood gives 3 years for both scooters. Before that, balance and leg strength are usually not developed enough to steer and push off at the same time.
Material and price. The Eco is made from 100% recycled plastic; the Scooter is the original model. Both are three-wheeled and share the same Easy Ride steering system.
The Helmet Eco has an ABS outer shell and comes in ten colours matching the Eco Scooter. The Banwood Helmet weighs 360 to 380 grams and comes in twelve colours. Both have a dial-fit adjustment system and an adjustable chin strap.
Measure the circumference of your child's head just above the ears and eyebrows, and go by that measurement. The product page lists the available sizes.
Better not. Store the bike or scooter dry; that keeps the steel frame, the bearings and the wooden parts in good order for years.
