Newborns can only see 30 to 38 cm (about the length of your forearm and hand). They are drawn to simple but repetitive geometric shapes in black and white. Around 6 months of age, they begin to recognize animal shapes and later call them by name. The couple discovered that as their motor skills develop, babies begin to pick up the cards to look at them.
